The Stigma of Fashion

The whole world has always accessorized and designed. From our forefathers times, we are adorned and characterized one group from another by our jewelries, tapestries and tattoos – it is in our soul. The craftsmanship and joy attached to accessorizing and clothing are within our veins and symbolize the natural artistry of people.

And until today, it is crystal clear that our world, just like its shape is not perfect and there is no industry in this place we live in can explain that than in the industry where glamour and sophistication is must…
FASHION.

Child labor still unresolved, social injustice is in highest ranked.  But what we only feel is the thirst for more advertisements, rampant greediness for sales, and over consumption for brands, that for us symbolizes status, fame and wealth.

We are lustful for auctions, and our quench for style have taken us into a new battlefield. Our idiosyncrasies are now explained by what we wear rather than who we are. New stigma for self actualization have long been forgotten  - we are lusting for celebrities, obsessing ourselves for what they are revealing inside that small idiot box. Today, fashion is considered as an important aspect for the majority. But the question is, Can we live with that for the rest of our lives?

As a fashion blogger and being part of the industry, it is really shameful to admit that fashion industry is actually maneuvering our failure.

Fashion has always been the standard of measurement that indentifies any given era.  Like for example the vibrant pop colors of the 80’s, or the denim glamour of the 90’s. It clarifies the birth and deformation of the present times that will soon be called as “Once”. The runway echoes and give life to the new writers,
poets, and celebrities of our times – they are now called supermodels.

This deformation is not only about clothes. It is mirrored to our  body. We become “FASHION-HOLIC” – being extra addicted to shopping that we almost neglect our own health just to buy the clothes that we’ve been dreaming of. Just because of our obsession to trends and styles, we are slowly killing ourselves.
We are becoming the die-hard fans of our own fake appearance. Because of our lust for new make ups and beauty enhancement we can no longer identify which is ours; Even though you are wearing a Prada stilettos or Jimmy Choo, you can no longer differentiate which is you before and who you are today. This metamorphosis is the result of our dedication to glitz and glamour of fashion.

By the aid of Adobe Photoshop we can make our waistline from 38” to 28”, our tan skin tones to Caucasian, we can even make our lips like Angelina Jolie’s lips. We are making our own clones. We are faking our own identity. And it’s all for the sake of our godly dreams – to look like what we want to be. The joined force of globalization, and the rise of internet exploration, with small exceptions, we are copies of copies of one another. Human Identity is now characterized by what he owns rather than who he is. Our real “ME” have never been so important – fashion obsessions reveal a new cultural plague. But the root of this problem is, is that we don't know how we want to look. Which leads us back to the question: Who, as far as the world is concern, are we?

Your Designer,
