Fashion Week Etiquette: How to look like you are a Front-Row Regular.

The fashion industry will be busier for the coming days, why? Because It's fashion week again. Forget your grandmother’s lesson about “prim and proper” etiquette, believe it or not, it is the time for being a little “Prima Donna” with  towering grace. Whether you are a Fashion week newbie or just wondering how it feels to be in the front row seat.  Follow these simple steps, and for sure that security guard will not suspect you as gate crasher! LOL!

RULE #1:  Don’t cut the line – we understood that you want to be treated special because you are wearing Chanel jacket and Prada shoes, but hey! It doesn’t give you rights to be a gate crasher. But if you‘ll insist, be ready to be pushed away by burly guards in front of the well dressed masses.

RULE #2: Pay no attention or at least pretend to ignore the celebrities – Remember it is fashion week and not PBB Eviction Night or Starstruck Final Showdown. Those celebrities are also guests and so are you. So instead, pretend that you are the celebrity.

RULE#3: Play it cool – Runway is not a toy store. Yes, that Rajo Laurel Gown is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever laid eyes on, and  you can’t contain your excitement anymore. But you must! A simple clap is the same amount of enthusiasm to show for the clothes.

RULE#4: Filipino TIME – It’s a must! – If the show will start by 2:30 pm, it means 3pm. If the party will open by 5pm, it really means 7pm. Being too eager to arrive early is TOTALLY NOT FASHIONABLE!

RULE #5: Keep your gadgets ready – Your mother told you that being surgically attached to your phones is very rude. But during fashion week you have all the excuses to do that. You can tweet, take photos, and blog right there and then about what is happening on that moment. What about tweeting that lady in the front seat, because you’ve notice that she is wearing a last season style of dress?

RULE #6: Cover your mouth when chit-chatting with your seatmate -   unless you want your big mouth to be photographed or caught in the video projector. Well, the main point here is that, people besides you are actually there to see the runway and not to talk about the latest buzz in show business. But if you really can’t control your mouth, might as well speak in a subtle tone and better to cover your mouth.

I hope that these tips will help you when going in the fashion week. So enjoy fashionably! See you SMX!

HUGS,
TONI
