FALL 2011 KEY TREND - 50'S REBEL

I've mention in my earlier post ( FALL 2011 FASHION TRENDS) that Punk and biker inspired look is on it’s way to  the streets and to  the runway. This key trend was inspired from the men’s fashion world – The rough and rugged.

Now it is seeing a forceful glance to the 50’s filthy and greasy look and its accompanying “bad boy” approach, portraying a retro rebel persona. With aggressive images of mischief-seeking men, brands and advertisers are using this vintage revival to gain the attention of both man and women market, who are simply looking for a good time, if not a bit of trouble.  In fact you don’t even have to be a huge fan of studs and leathers to appreciate this brooding bad boy style.

To build that biker bad boy ensemble here are the 4 staple items:

1.)    The leather jacket –  Forget the trench coats  and stick to half length or three-quarter length leather jackets. Look for jackets with bronze zippers and studs for more punk-esque.

2.)    The shoes  -  for ladies, you can pair your leather jackets with studded high heels in red or black. Or simply wear a boots with heels and studs. For men’s, don’t wear cowboy boots, (you are over doing it) casual boots is enough just pair it with well-travelled, well-worn fitted denim.

3.)    Bottoms  – Ladies can wear  leatherette leggings or skinny jeans. Choose from black, red or blue and pair it with white top and black boots and black jackets. Men’s should wear  a grungy looking well-travelled fitted denim jeans.

4.)    The Fitted tees –  depending upon your own built, but I strongly recommend wearing snugly fit  top, unless you are quite out of shape. There is no standard color for both genders, ladies can wear any color as long as it matches the look, depending on the color of your jacket, boots and jeans.  (See Jessi J here in white Top). For men’s, plain black or with a slight print design like that of retro feel Topman Raw Power brand  to create the biker inspired vibe.

Wearing these items, you’d feel tempted to hang out in black alleys and play dice – you know, normal 50’s stuff.

HUGS,
TONI
