The Unveiling of Kate Middleton's Wedding Gown

In all honesty (who are we kidding here?), it's the royal wedding dress everyone's really waiting to see.

A royal trumpet has now sounded, and thousands of people in all walks of life have seen bells in the sky. On the morning of April 29, a British girl from a good family got out of a car, received an awesome applause from tens thousands of people and headed into a church to marry her prince in Westminster Abbey.

After months of secrecy and speculation surrounding the royal wedding dress, different speculation came to an end about what she would wear on her walk down the aisle! Kate Middleton, now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, looked stunning in an a custom white silk dress with a lace bodice and sleeves, designed by  the official royal wedding website reveals it's—drum roll please—Sarah Burton, the 36-year-old creative director of British fashion house Alexander McQueen! And what more do we expect? All of the spotlight went to Kate as she looks elegant as always she is, in her long-sleeve lace, ivory and satin gown with flattering V neckline and 8-foot-long train, a simple lace-edged veil and understated (for royal standards) tiara sparkling over her half up, half down hairdo.

Her sister Pippa Middleton, serving as the maid-of-honor, also wore a dress of Burton’s design.

Kates, dress featured embroidered rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. Her tiara is Queen Elizabeth II’s Cartier halo tiara, which was a gift from Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Her earrings, custom Robinson Pelham acorns, were a gift from her parents, and her veil was hand embroidered with flowers by the Royal School of Needlework, where “workers washed their hands every thirty minutes to keep the lace and threads pristine, and the needles were renewed every three hours, to keep them sharp and clean.” (http://www.styleite.com)

The pleated skirt was made to resemble an "opening flower" (I love it!), and the bodice, which was padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry.

Kate's ivory duchess satin heels were also courtesy of Alexander McQueen.

The Duchess of Cambridge stands on her own as a singularly beautiful bride.

The fairy tale moment has arrived.
